The Roselle Observatory: the Maremma under the stars

Just a short walk from Podere Manni, in the hamlet of Casette di Mota, you will find the Astronomical Observatory run by AMSA (Associazione Maremmana Studi Astronomici “Galileo Galilei”). Here, far from the city lights, the Maremma sky shows itself in all its beauty.

On public evenings you can observe planets, stars and nebulae through the 41 cm Cassegrain telescope, under the dome or with the telescopes in the garden, together with stories about the night sky and its mythology.

A perfect experience to combine with a visit to the farm: a tasting of our oil at sunset and then, just a few minutes away, up to the stars.

Just a short walk from Podere Manni, in the heart of the Maremma, lie the fascinating archaeological excavations of Roselle. Once an important Etruscan and later Roman city, the site offers a unique chance to immerse yourself in the ancient history of Tuscany.

Founded in the 7th century BC, Roselle grew thanks to its strategic position overlooking the surrounding plain. Today visitors can explore the ancient Cyclopean walls, the baths, the temples and the houses that tell the story of daily life more than two thousand years ago.
