The 227 Oil is produced in the Maremma region of Tuscany by the Podere Manni company, using only olives that are grown in its own soil.
2227 is the identification number of the farm. This number ensures maximum levels of traceability of a locally cultivated and completely natural product.
The owner of the farm, Pericle Manni, knows all the traditional secrets of how to grow olives while maintaining their excellent taste and high quality.
The limited quantity of this oil is due to its particularly close connection with the land where it was produced.
Natural oil par excellence:
The 227 extra virgin olive oil is extracted by procedures of mechanical pressing, so that it comes directly from the olives, and no chemical products are used at any stage of processing.
The olive grove consists of 800 trees, which produce from 1,500 to 2,000 litres of oil every year. The specific cultivars, or varieties of olive trees, that we grow on our land are:
frantoiano al 50% leccino al 40% pendolino 10%
With this combination of varieties we have obtained an oil with a very balanced taste, which is perfect for children, as well as for cooking all kinds of dishes. Its delicacy and naturalness also makes it suitable for topical and dermatological use.
The olives are harvested with manual techniques at the end of October, when they have reached 50% of their ripening and maturation process. The cold pressing and extraction of extra virgin olive oil is carried out at the mill at the location of Madonnino (Gr), which is equipped with the Pieralisi technology, using machines that reduce the processes of oxidation to a minimum.
This process makes our oil a truly natural product.
Extra virgin olive oil contains polyphenols that give this oil its characteristic bitter spicy taste and that possess many health benefits. For example they have antioxidant properties, which means that they fight against “free radicals” in the body.
Other components of extra virgin olive oil that are important for our organism are unsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic acid, which not only reduces levels of “bad” cholesterol, but also raises those of “good” cholesterol. It also makes extra-virgin olive oil more easily assimilated by the body, facilitating the absorption of the vitamins it contains, and thereby ensuring a more healthy and balanced diet.
It is no coincidence that in the Tuscan countryside, before going to bed in the evening, many elderly people still take a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil to facilitate their digestion.
